FEA Stress Analysis on Connecting Rod

Our patented composite connecting rods, which are 40% lighter than aluminum connecting rods (saving up to 300 grams per rod), dramatically improve performance. In addition to all the benefits of using composites, the design and geometry of our rods have been optimized to distribute stress efficiently, outperforming others made from aluminum, steel, and titanium! They are backed by finite element analysis studies performed by ATA Engineering, as well as over five years of AWA research and development.

Metal connecting rods are designed to account for stretching and thermal expansion during engine cycles, while our rods experience nearly no distortion from these effects. Composite connecting rods also experience less fatigue, allowing them to last longer than rods made in traditional materials, reducing your overall cost per run.

Why Composite Parts?

Our composite parts are significantly lighter than traditional steel, titanium, and aluminum parts. Switching to lighter parts will increase your motor response time and acceleration. Lighter parts also carry less momentum, meaning they will put less stress on other parts and increase safety for your driver and engine.

Composites have a different resonance frequency than steel and aluminum which, eliminates the harmful harmonic effects that accumulate in an all-metal engine. Your other engine parts will also benefit by experiencing less stress and fatigue, making composite parts a long-term and cost-effective investment.

The properties of composites can be optimized for different situations by varying fiber types, fiber architectures, resin systems, and manufacturing processes. Through years of rigorous research and development, we have engineered each of our parts to leverage the benefits of specific treatments and formulas. Because of this, our parts are just as strong or stronger than incumbent parts while being a fraction of the weight.

These factors translate to a significant increase in the performance, longevity, and safety of your engine. As the leader in advanced structural composites, we are revolutionizing the automotive industry.
